About Sand Technologies

Sand Technologies, a global AI solutions provider, sought to streamline and unify its operational systems across multiple geographies. Facing rapid growth and a need for integration across finance, HR, and operations, the company turned to NetSuite and partnered with ERP Success Partners for a strategic implementation. The goal: lay the digital foundation needed for global expansion and long-term scalability.

Originally founded as Explore AI in South Africa, Sand Technologies has grown into a global player in the AI solutions space. In late 2023, Explore AI was acquired by Sand Technologies, an ambitious firm backed by African Leadership Group entities such as African Leadership University (Mauritius). Today, the company boasts:

  • ~300 employees
  • Global client base in utilities, insurance, and telecom sectors
  • AI-driven services including digital twins, workflow optimization, and digitization consulting
  • Active expansion into the United States

Sand Technologies positions itself as a nimble and innovative competitor to industry giants like Volunteer AI and C3.ai, delivering tailored tech consulting and AI services worldwide.

Le défi

Operating across South Africa, the UK, and the US, Sand Technologies previously relied on separate Sage instances for each region. According to Andrey Andreev, Director of Finance, this fragmented system hindered visibility, created data silos, and introduced inefficiencies in reporting and operations.

To support its US market entry and unify global business processes, Sand Technologies needed:

  • UN centralized, cloud-based ERP
  • Simplified multi-entity reporting
  • Integration capabilities with tools like Salesforce, Papaya Global (payroll), and Replicon (timesheets)
  • A scalable system to power growth and digital transformation

We wanted to have everything in one place. We’re expanding into the US and needed a reliable, robust system. NetSuite was the logical choice.

Implementation Journey with ERP Success Partners

Sand Technologies partnered with ERP Success Partners to lead their NetSuite implementation across their global operations.

To ensure the system design accurately reflected Sand’s unique business processes, ERP Success Partners provided a suite of standardized templates designed to capture operational flows, financial structures, and reporting needs. Sand’s internal consultant assisted in mapping these processes and completing the templates, which formed the foundation for building a tailored implementation strategy.

While Sand’s internal team experienced a learning curve understanding the structure and requirements of NetSuite, the documentation process allowed them to gain deeper insights into how the ERP platform works and how to optimize it for their needs.

The go-live marked a critical milestone, creating momentum to begin integrating tools like Salesforce, Papaya Global, and Replicon to complete their digital ecosystem.

Initially, we thought we would just hand over our data… but filling out the templates ourselves helped us understand why NetSuite is set up the way it is. It turned out to be very helpful for us long term.

Results and Early Impact

Sand Technologies officially went live on NetSuite in early 2025. While only a single bank account is currently integrated and manual uploads are still in use (but not for long), the company is now positioned to build out a fully integrated tech stack.

Early benefits and realizations include:

  • Increased urgency and structure post go-live
  • A strategic roadmap for tool integration and data centralization
  • Plans to use NetSuite output for advanced analytics and reporting

We understand how it will benefit us once it’s fully functional. Now, going live has created a new sense of urgency to move forward.

Next Steps

Sand Technologies is now focused on:

  • Integrating additional banking platforms (e.g., Afrasia Bank, Nedbank)
  • Connecting NetSuite to Salesforce, Papaya Global, and Replicon
  • Using NetSuite as the centralized system of record across the business

With NetSuite as its operational core and ERP Success Partners as a trusted implementation partner, Sand Technologies has laid the groundwork for efficient, scalable growth. As integration efforts continue and internal adoption expands, the company is positioned to gain powerful insights and maintain agility in a competitive global market.

Overall, we’re very satisfied. It was a very pleasant experience working with the team at ERP Success Partners.
